I hadn't considered this Les. You're right.
I would have to get that much more distance
between lens and object to use the 10" as
opposed to the 8". I can see me jammed into
the back wall with my subject jammed into the
opposite wall and still I might only get part
of her face on the ground glass. From what Alec
said, the 10" might not be an option for my Mini.
I am beginning to see some of the advantages of
the 4x5 over the 2x3. More bellows extension as
well as more lens options. I went ahead and got
the 8th Ed. of Graphic Graflex Photography
(Morgan & Lester) haven't yet found the data on
the Mini bellows and compatible lens options.
From the 11th Ed. though, it seems the Mini has
more draw than Alec found for the Century.
7¾ = 197mm while 9" = 228mm (31mm additional draw)
which is more than an extra inch.

: Graphic Graflex PHotography 11th ed.(p197) states that the Mini speed has a 9" bellows draw (the Pacemaker Crown and Speed had 7 3/4")

: ALL of the 2 1/4 graphic cameras list the 10" 5.6 optar as an optional lens.

: I've seen a lot of fashion/model/glamour photographers use a 250 on their Hassys and RB Mamiayas, but as a wedding photographer that always had a limited distance to back up, I shot with a 150 for a nice belt up portrait. An 8" would be roughly the same or a little longer for 2x3.
