unloading a 23 graphic film holder

I think I figured out how to load the film holder. I unrolled it so the outside paper was to the back of the camera. My question is how do I unload the holder now? I exposed the 8 frames and kept turning until the counter was on S . When I unload it does it have to be in the dark? Thanks for the help.

Keep cranking until you feel no drag, pop open the back, grasp the spool and remove. Lick the tape and you are done. You do not need to be in the dark, but common sense says subdued light would be better. Russ
