|
|
Hi All-
New here...great forums!
I have a Speed from eBay with a rear curtain shutter that seems to have torn apart. There's some material on either roll. But they do not come close to connecting, or gaping even.
I searched around on these forums and found lots of info on repairing them, but not much about completely replacing them.
Thanks for any info!

Bert makes nice replacements and knows where to get a replacement material, and will probably post a message to email him, so check back. |

Do a search here for Bert, or Bert Saunders and click on his profile as he has his email listed there. Extremely helpful.
The new curtain he made for my RB is really nice, but I had to re-glue the curtain to the rollers. You might just send him your pieces and have him cut it out and use your metal apertures that line the openings inthe curtain.
Send him the whole camera if you are not comfortable taking it all apart, though it's pretty much a wind up toy for the mechanically inclined. |

Oh cool...I found him and emailed him. We'll see what he has to say.
I wouldn't mind trying to make a new one if it's at all possible. I'm reasonably handy, and I think I get what's going on in the guts there. Sort of. Crazy design.
Thanks again! |

Which model Speed did you get?
There are some service manuals at Rich's sight called South Bristol Views I think. You can search that here too, find the site, find the Graflex manuals page. Good stuff. |

I think it's a Pacemaker Speedgraphic with a 1945 lens on it...so that must not be the orignial, but it is an Ektar, so that's good.
The thing is pretty beat up to be honest...I think I should have done more research before getting it. I have a Crown Graphic that's in much better shape, but I want that rear shutter.
I did see the service manuals...great resource. But they're really geared more toward a curtain that hasn't been completely destroyed by someone. |
