I have recently rediscovered my father's Crown Graphic camera from his days as a Navy photographer. I cannot get it open! The release catch depresses part way; but feels like it is binding. I don't want to break anything, so if anyone has a hint to assist in this, I'd appreciate it. |

For what its worth you might try holding the front closed by hand while pressing on the release. If the release depresses all the way with the front held closed by hand there is a burr or something similar on the catch and the spring tension on the front stops the release from its full movement. Once the release is fully depressed the front should open.

I've finally been able to open the camera! As you suggested, I think it was something on the catch; but it works fine now. Thanks for your suggestion. |
