Hi there,

I'm Ash, I've been a regular on RFF, Large Format Photo.info etc. I'm in the UK and I'm a photography student

Aside from my various cameras, I've owned an Anni SG for a little while. It arrived in poor condition earlier this year and I've stripped off the leather covering, the non-working rangefinder, the viewfinder etc. The camera has slowly been modified for my purposes but.......

....Long story short, the side shutter mech plate will need replacing (the bit with the cogs, O-T-A-B-C-D and shutter release).

I'm looking for a replacement if anybody has one from a stripped body. Long shot I'm sure, and I can't phone that US guy who may have all the parts.

Can anybody help??

Thanks!

Just a curiosity.... Why does it need to be replaced? I've never heard of one wearing out, unless the camera was used for machine gun practice.

Hi Les, as I stated it's a long story. Basically the screw head broke off, and durin an attempt to remove the remaining bolt part of the screw, the lever (both sides of the metal plate) became damaged. It's going to be a long difficult job to try and recover a working lever from these bits and I'd prefer to replace the whole mech.

Do you have or have you read the service manual ?

"slowly modified" to suit your purposes sounds more like eventually destroyed.

Your name suits you

I have read the manual, yes. Fact is when you need to strip paint from the metal plate, you need to remove the lever on the top side. It was totally unexpected that during reassembly the screw (due to it's size or age, or my own fault) would sheer off at the top.

I do not wish for this specific Speed Graphic to be as it was intended. I stripped the leather, removed the Kalart, removed the top finder, the handle, sanded the wood and coated it.

You could say destroyed, but I was only asking for help to find a part here. No need to be a purist.

I've been watching ebay, there is however no harm in asking here in case people have some parts. ebay is a gamble and totally unreliable.

Sorry, have looked thru my parts and havent got the part you need!
The "L" shaped curtain release lever screw iis always peened on the nut inside, usually breaks when trying to remove the lever! It is a 2-56 screw, and you can get the screws at hobby stores with a nut! suggest that you file the screw to length (so it doesent bottom out), and peen it again to keep the nut in place!
Have a nice day........Bert
