|
|
Hi,
I'm new to this tool, and am excited to get my first Speed Graphic. This may be a dumb question, but is it possible for the ground glass/hood to be separated from the camera and lost?
I'm looking online at a pacemaker with an RH 8 roll back. The pictures show this. But - does that mean there is no ground glass? The seller says the roll back is the only back. Would it be worth finding the missing parts, the price is good on the rest, and it's clean.
Thanks, |

Goamules;
It is not a "dumb question" from someone unfamiliar with the Graflex line of cameras.
The ground glass & hood assembly is very easy to remove on the "Graflok" back and must be removed to install almost any relatively recent roll film back. As far as I know all Pacemaker Speed Graphics had a Graflok back and the RH8 (as was all of the RH series) roll film back was designed for that back.

Focus panels occasionally show up on ebay and go for a fair price. The RH8 is a 6x9 format, ie 8 6x9 images per 120 roll of film. You would be stuck shooting only 120 in 6x9 format with the lens adjusted for the rangefinder until you found a focus panel for it. In the case of a Top Rangefidner camera you would have to find a lens with a matching cam for the Top Rangefinder Pacemaker series of cameras. _________________ The best camera ever made is the one that YOU enjoy using and produces the image quality that satifies YOU. |

Thanks for your replies. I get it now. I suppose the camera is missing the focus panel. I'll decide if I should get it.
But I'm going to get SOME Speed Graphic! |

While looking for something else on eBay I came across this in Cameras & Photo > Vintage > Other Vintage Items.
The item title is "(4) Vintage Graphic Graflex Film Holder #A90". The seller does not appear to know what he has as one of the "film holders" is the focus panel of a 2 1/4" x 3 1/4" Graflok back. The other three "film holders" are really double sided 2 1/4" x 3 1/4" film holders. The item number is "200183907872".
