Hello all,
I've now got a new to me Crown sitting somewhere between Cali & Wisc on a FedEx truck (driving for Schnieder National, I can empathize with it ) It's already been stripped of handle, RF, & etc. so I'm thinking of what would be the best way to convert it to at least the level of Toyo's 45CF field camera (all front movements, no rear).
It seems that the easiest way would be to use a Super's front standard if it will fit a Pacemaker's rails. Anyone here care to confirm or deny that presumption?
Or is there another at least relativly cheap option I am missing? In the end I mostly do portraits, landscapes & urban landscapes in 4x5 so I don't _need_ as much as I might. Still I occassionaly find myself somewhat cramped but without the budget for a Shen Hao (I've fondled & lusted after, but alas... ) or the afore mentioned 45CF.
I already have a nice Anniversary Speed in 4x5 for the press camera experiance & I also have a very nice Calumet CC-400 monorail so I do understand that I'm a) trying to split the difference & 2) have the proverbial cake & chow on it too. But, really, with a 5 year old at home my budget is so d**n near non-existant that it's not even slightly funny. I only got started in LF by being gifted that Anny...

Oh, btw, anyone know a good stain for Honduran Mahogony?

The rail are the same width apart on a Pacemaker and Super. The Pacemaker has a linked rear section, the Super does not. The rails will not be the problem in putting a Super front standard on a Pacemaker.
The bellows are totally different between the two cameras. The Pacemaker bellows are attached to the front standard via a plate and screws. The Super bellows are factory crimped to the front standard block which fits into the frame with the chrome pieces layed on top for appearance. I do not know if the bellows rear will fit in the other body or not. Both models bellows do attach to the back by the same type of fastening system.
A Super bellows rear is 4 3/4 inches square on the outside edge of the mount frame. The Super also has internal wireing in the bellows.

Hmm. Ok, thank you for the information. Never having seen a Super, I wasn't sure about the level of differences. Time to explore what can be done with 2 pacemaker standards, a dremmel & some JB Weld
