Hello Everyone,

I am a new Speed Graphic owner and have just joined this group. My Speed Graphic has not been used for several years, if not decades, and was left folded up. As a result, the shutter release is very loathe to work. The button moves OK, but the release lever on the shutter is not moved enough to let it fire. As the shutter will fire OK by hand, I was wondering if perhaps the cable connecting the two had got crimped or trapped somehow. I did try drizzling some very fine sewing machine oil down between the inner and outer cables but without any success. Can anyone help me with this please?

Welcome to the forum.....the L shaped trip lever may need to be adjusted lower, there is a small screw that clamps it on the shaft! And sometimes the shutter is rotated down to far also, may need to rotate it so that the full stroke of the shutter release is centered, or slightly above center!
And yes, the cable sometimes can get crimped...raise the lensboard, and you should be able to see the entire length of the cable, needle-nose pliers can be used to straighted any kinks you may find!
