Hi, does anyone happen to know if the graflok back allows placement of groundglasses from other brands ?(like a lined cambo-ground glass for instance) or does every 4x5 camera brand have it's own sizes ?

kind regards

When removing a ground glass from a camera pay attention to any shims between the glass and mount boss, fresnel position, or in the case of Graflex made cameras the ektalite screen, other wise 4x5 is 4x5 reguardless of who made it. Remove the pop up hood and measure the glass to be sure no special application is lurking there.

For the most part, all ground glass is replaceable, as said, you need to pay attention to see if their are any shims or such on the screen, but it can be replaced with very little problem. Currently, I have documented 133 different sizes of screens for 4x5 cameras, but as long as the company making your new screen knows the camera or has the ability to cut custom glass for you need, there is no problem, the main thing you want to make sure is the ground side of the new screen is in the same plane as the one your are replacing, variances in thickness does not make alot of difference, even Graflex had screens over the years that varied in thickness, but the flat ground side of the screen is the most important part of the equation.
