I'm curious because I've never seen a crown graphic that originally never came with either. I've seem a bunch that have the mounting holes where they would have been. Obviously a graphic that had less accessories would have cost less then, but since there seems to be few(if any) now, is it worth more? Just wondering what I got .....any thought. |

I know that on my Century the holes for the optical viewfinder mount as well as the Kalart rangefinder are cast into the Mahoganite. I discovered the former when I added the finder, and the latter you can see from inside the box that the holes are preformed; ditto for the holding strap brackets. |

I have a Pacemaker Crown that was delivered as a bare bones camera, with no RF or lens. It does have a flash bracket, but that could have been added at any time. Not buying the RF would have saved a good deal of money, but the flash bracket probably cost two bucks, so why not have it put on. My camera also lacks a hand strap, and given its mint condition I suspect it was delivered without one. Thats another place to save money if you do not intend to carry the camera around. And if you are going to use it on a tripod in your studio, you really do not need that RF anyway.
As a collector, I was thrilled to find this camera as it is unusual. Most users would pass it by, as the RF is a very desired option. My dealer was glad to find that I wanted the camera, and I got it for a song. So, except for the appeal to a collector, it is definitely worth less than a camera with a good RF.
BTW, the reason I "know" that it was delivered without a lens was that the focusing scales were factory blanks, subsequently engraved when the camera was finally fitted with a lens. The camera also carries a dealer decal on the yoke, so I suspect that the dealer bought it for stock, and figured that whoever bought it would fit it up with whatever lens they wanted. |

Uncommon but not rare.

I just posted a query under "Field conversion dilemma" -- my Crown seems to have no RF either! Didn't know about the "bare bones" option. Seems kind of strange, but there you have it. |
