I'm looking for a tripod for a Crown Graphic. My 35mm cheapie tripod is FAR too flimsy, and I don't have a dealer nearby, so I have to buy mailorder.

Catalogs more confusing than helpful!

Can anyone offer opinions, recommendations on a solid yet not exorbinantly priced tripod/head that will hold the Crown firmly after focusing while I slap a Polaroid back into place?

If anyone has a used one they want to unload, please let me know as well.

If you do a search for tripod, I think you'll find this subject has been covered more than once...
Most suggest a Bogen 3021 or Tiltall as shown here:

Whatever you decide on for a 'pod, save up your pennies and buy a geared head for it. I use the Bogen/Manfrotto medium geared head on the Bogen 3001 with my Century. Wouldn't go back to those handle-heads for all the film in Rochester.

Try a majestic tripod. I have one and I was using an 8 by 10 with it with minimal troubles. It is a true rock solid mount and built like a brick out house.

I bought my girlfriend a Manfrotto/Bogen 3405B. She regularly uses it to pull Polaroids on her wooden field view camera. The tripod came recommended by the guys at Lens and Repro and I love it so much that I steal it most of the time to use with my Century. It can handle a decent amount of weight and is super sturdy, but small and light enough to carry on my backpack. Price is right at approx $100!
