Can somebody please tell me what was the original hand strap material on a circa mid 1950's SG? Was in leather, plastic or what?

I think they were all leather, except for the Century, which [on my Grey body model at least] came with a plastic handle.

military versions often had that oh so prevelent, cotton strap material. I'm not saying it's true, but it wouldn't suprise me if they marketed a cheaper 4x5 or 2x3 that was stripped and used the plastic handle.
