I have just gotten into this Graflex LF world and have two Crown Graphics and a Speed Graphic fresh off of Ebay. The Speed is in very good shape, however the advertised working shutter has some issues. At first I couldn't wind it at all. Then it wound with a ratcheting noise. I was able to cycle through all of the speeds fine once it got fully wound. As well the sliding indicator that shows which speed range the governor is set for is somehow out of its track and flopping forward and backward. The serial number is mid 800's and obviously some of this camera has been reassembled. Shutter speeds appear to be appropriately faster to slower as the shutter winds down. In posts from 2001 some had offered to send pdfs of repair manuals. Any chance that those offers would still be good? Also, would I be making a mistake to remove the six screws holding on the cover and see whats amiss with the indicator plate (ie, is there anything that will fly out by removing the cover)?

As I was exercising the shutter, at one point the ratcheting went totally away and I think it was working exactly like what it was supposed to. Wound nicely and released nicely.

Thanks for any suggestions and especially if you could contribute a copy of a repair manual to show how this all goes together.

I have a Gaflex 23 6x9 back for the Graflok backs on the Crowns, and would like to find instructions for that as well. (The Speed has only a Graphic back)

Thanks

Found what I needed on another part of site. Sorry to post here in LF discussion. Didn't realize I was in this section. Meant to be in Speed Graphic help section.

Thanks
