Carl you lucky dog!
I've been corresponding with Ed Riedel and he recently found some internal documents about a variant of the Pacemaker that has a hot shoe on top and I think a plug so that you could trip the solenoid using the focospot batteries and not need the flash.
I have no idea how many of these cameras were made and how many exist today (of course I did see one on ebay a couple of months ago) but the truth is most pacemaker cameras cannot fire the solenoid from the red button on the rangefinder.
