The answer to all of your questions is Yes!
The Ysarex is a late model tessar in design, so is the optar, The Ysarex will be a bit more contrasty but the kalart (side mounted) rangefinder can be adjusted to the new lens, infact it may be very close now.

You'll need to remove the lens from the Polaroid usually by removing the rear cell (it unscrews) then removing the retaining ring with a lens removing tool. Yes I've used a screwdriver, but it's hazardous to the shutter when it slips.
Then either find a new lensboard for the Ysarex or hope your lucky and it fits the lensboard the Optar is on.

What Kind of shutter is the Wollensak Optar in? : I am thinking of using shutter/lens combo from a
: Polaroid 180 camera, on a 4X5 Spd Graphic,( Focal Plane
: shutter does not work>)

: The new lens is a 127mm Rodenstock-YSAREX 4.7 which
: works beautifully with polaroid 3.25" X 4.25" Film.

: 1. Will this lens cover 4X5?
: 2. Is this a quality lens?
: 3. Can I calibrate the rangefiner? Is it hard to do?
: (The press camera has an old Wollensak 127mm lens
: now) I have never used this camera.
: 4. Where can I find propper info for this changeover?

: The reason I am planning the change-over is the
: electronic sync problem.

: I do believe I will mostly use this camera with a roll-
: film-back. Altho I would occasionaly like to use 4X5.
