I know what you mean about site flamers.
I used to be a regular on a spiritual
Course in Miracles board sponsored by
Marianne Williamson. We had a flamer who
did exactly the same thing. He/she wrote
inflamatory messages and signed as regular
members. It caused untold heartache and
confusion.

There is a way to block a person's ISP addy
but being spiritual types my old board would
not go to that "extreme." It is also possible
for the Webmaster to delete posts that are
attacks on others. But it means someone must
monitor all the posts and review them for content.
Not a pleasant job. Flamers are usually
teenagers who think what they're doing is
legitimate. They have too much time on their
hands with not enough constructive activities.

As a Net community we have to figure out a way
to deal with them. It's unfair that one teenager
can bring down an entire board. Usually you can
tell if a post is legit, in spite of who suposedly
sent the post. Ignore it if it doesn't sound like
the real Bert or the real Les. To attack the
flamer in return only seems to fuel the flames.

But I understand your frustration having been
there myself. Flamers are sort of related to
taggers IMHO. Ultimately what they do is harm-
less. But it can cause a lot of grief if you
allow it to. If you consider that they are teens
or

-teens with not much to do the best thing
to do is ignore them. For to give them any attn
at all feeds their craving for attention.

Kent
