I have looked through the archives of the help section, but have not seen an answer to my question.
Has anyone ever compiled a list of the physical dimensions of the openings of the optical viewfinder masks? I have found the list of the different sized masks for the different lenses, but I have not seen any data about the opening sizes?
I am curious because I would like to make my own. I know I could either purchase them or create them by trial and error, but if someone had the dimensions already compiled it would be much easier to draw them up in AutoCad and plot them out on acetate and have all of them at one's disposal. |

I have Viewfinder Masks No. 2,3,4,6,7,9,10,11,12,14, and 15. I will be able to send you dimensions Tuesday. I have them written down in a spiral notebook that unfortunatly is in a Storage Shed that will be closed for Labor Day. I measured them with Dial Calipers as I bought them over the years. |

Thank you so very much. I tried "guestimating" a paper cutout a couple of weeks ago, but my experiment did not turn out too well.
Looking forward to your post! |

Never mind, I just saw Houston on your profile. When I was a truck driver I used to be down there a lot, either picking up Dow Chemical or delivering to Albertsons in Katy, Tx. The TA truckstop at Baytown was my second home. Or at least it seemed that way. |

Thanks for the dimensions, that is exactly what I wanted to know!
I live in the northern part of Houston in Tomball, but I work on the I-10 corridor not too far from Katy and have travelled past the Baytown truck stop many times on the way to Louisiana.
It has been alot of years since I have been to Witchita Falls. My best friend from childhood was stationed at the air force base there while studying to be a pilot. Actually, my girlfriends stepfather is from Witchita, in fact his father was Mayor there years and years ago.
I really appreciate your posting the viewfinder information for me. It is nice to meet folks with the same interests as mine.
Thanks again. |

I've been here in Wichita Falls all my life. My folks have been here since 1960. Who was your girlfriends stepfathers dad? If I don't remember him, I'm sure my folks would as they were active in local politics for years. I live about a 1/2 mile from Shepperd Air Force base. Small world, isn't it? |

Gents, How do there numbers correspond with negative sizes? For example, which size is for 6x7 and for 6x9. Thanks, Mark |

| Mark, if there isn't a full explanation on this site -- look hard -- perhaps you should buy a copy of a late edition of Graphic Graflex Photography. Short answer, each number is used with a different focal length on each of the possible formats (2x3, 3x4, 4x6). |

78ltd,
I sent a private message to your inquiry using the forum button for that purpose. Our conversation was getting far off topic. Let me know if you did not receive it. |
