|
|
It came as a surprise to discover that Anniversary Speed Graphics were available new through most of the 1950's from Colwood Camera Company, Colliers Green, London, UK.
These cameras were sold with a Speed chart slit & twension and at the bottom Colwood Camera Co (1953)Ltd, Authorised Graflex Distributors, London, SW19.
Colwood Camera Company appeared around the same time as the MPP Micro Press prototype based on a Micro Technical MkIII with a Wray shutter, The production Micro Press is very different essentially a Pacemaker Speed Graphic with an internal top range-finder with some MPP parts.
The last Colinwood advert I have is 1958 where they offer Anniversary Speed Graphics Completely Rebuilt With Factory Spares. New Graflex cameras available with a Board of Trade Licence. I hadn't realised these severe Import restrictions were still in force in 1958, The Micro Press was a way for Graflex and MPP to get around these restrictions as they were shipping in parts.
Colinwood were distributors for Presslite flash units this may be why the Graflex and MPP flash units are similar. It seems Colinwood may be the missing link between Graflex and MPP, they were only 6 miles from the MPP factory. Colinwood were supploers to the Ministry of Supply, RAF, Navy, Police, Hospitals etc,
