Hi!

I have a Speed Graphic FP from 1965 which seems to be missing the holes for screws 12 & 15(based on page 17 of the 45-Pacemaker-Speed-and-Crown-Graphic.pdf manual). My older Crown has the holes. Cables look identical.

Was there an additional piece for newer Speeds which I'm missing or is it simply a manufacturing error? I could drill some holes but the Speed is in pristine condition and I'd hate to mess around with it.

This is how it looks like:

This is how it should be:

Thanks!

By not having the holes is it also missing the cable for the front shutter release?
Does it have the Front/Rear selector switch?

That's the strange thing, it has the exact same cable as in the manual. The Front/Rear selector switch is present. All other features are present as well. Just the three holes are missing.

So apparently there is no missing piece but they simply forgot to drill them?

Apparently so.
The cable attach points is critical for correct operation of the cable. Use the reference diagram in the manual on page 17 as the guide. The body is 1/4 inch thick Mahogany. Make a start indentation for the screws or drill a pilot hole half the thickness of the body. I have had to repair stripped holes and reattach the cable. Its best to have an undersized hole so the screw fits tighter into the wood body.
