Hello,
I'm new to this group and look forward to your replies. I was wondering what lenses were used with the 8x10 view cameras back in the 30's & 40's for portraits?
Thanks!

Most often they were using 300mm to 450mm (12" to 18") for portraits. Why? That's what was available. Most photographers could aford only one lens and they would shoot everything with it.

Much longer lenses get int to bellows sag on 8x10.

8x10 is not for the faint of heart. Head over to:

Good luck!
