Hello again . . .

I'm making baby steps toward understanding my Pacemaker Speed Graphic. I'm grateful for the help I received with my first post, and now I'm back with a new puzzle.

Since I got the camera, I noticed some functionality problems with the Kodak Ektar 101mm shutter it had, and I tried to fix them myself. You will probably not be surprised to hear that things didn't work out so well, given my inexperience. I'm not sure the shutter is dead yet, but if there's any hope for it, it will take some time for me to sort it out. In the meantime, I bought an Ektar 4.7 127mm--what seemed to be a very similar lens--and it arrived today.

It didn't fit my lens board. Apparently, the 101mm had 30mm threads, whereas the new one has what seems to be 34mm or 35mm threads.

So I went hunting for a new lens board, and through that effort I realized that my camera is apparently a 2-1/4 x 3-1/4 model, since my lens board is 2.5 x 2.5 inches--something I hadn't realized before.

The shutter looks pretty big against the board, but it seems like it would work if I made or bought a board with the correct bore. Is this a reasonable assumption? Or did I just buy a lens that I can't use with my camera at all?

Thanks for your help!
KT

It will fit, all you need is a board with a hole the right size.

So you'll know, the Ilex #3 (see http://www.skgrimes.com/library/used-obsolete-discontinued-shutters/ilex for dimensions) may be the largest shutter that can be used on a 2x3 Graphic.

If your 2x3 Pacemaker Speed has the infernal body shutter release with its little paddle etc. on the front standard, you may have to remove the paddle or at least reorient it. No loss, IMO. I've removed paddles, associated bracketry and cable from my Graphics.

Thanks, Dan. This is comforting to know! Now I just have to set about manufacturing a board, as it seems 2 x 3 boards are pretty rare in the wild.

I too have a lens board from him and it's great quality. I'll be ordering another in the near future.
