Hello,

I joined this forum to see if I can track down a supplier of Speed Graphic parts. I just bought a Super Speed Graphic on ebay - it's in great shape, everything works, including the 1/1000 shutter speed and PC X-sync ... overall a great camera. However, I went to disengage the locking spring for the front standard tilt (down) and it snapped off as soon as I touched it. It was just metal fatigue - it snapped right at the flex point, so nobody's to blame...parts wear out, so no worries. Fortunately, there are two springs - one at either side of the front standard that do the same thing, so no functionality is lost. Even if the other one snapped off tomorrow, the camera would still work fine, it just wouldn't lock in when the front standard tilt is zeroed (the locking knobs still work fine). When looking through the back of the camera, it is the spring on the left side of the front standard (the two springs are reversed as they have locking tabs on the inside, so the left spring is not the same part as the right spring).

I just want to buy a replacement spring to keep the cosmetic condition of the camera complete (I'm not a collector, but I like my cameras to look nice and work properly). If anyone knows of anybody who sells this sort of part please let me know (I live in Toronto, so US or Canada suppliers would be best). Thanks.

-Morgan

Look at the post several posts down in the Speed Graphic Help forum about Fred Lustig.
He is the man to see for Graflex parts.
