Hello,

I have a 3 x 4 Pre-Anniversary Speed Graphic. Thanks to help from Bert I got the focal plane shutter working again. The rest of the camera after a little cleaning was in surprsing good shape including the orignal Zeiss Tessar lens and Compur shutter.

The one area that still needs attention is the pop-up viewing hood. I re-covered the pop-up metal door that was bare metal with leather and it looks great. However I have not been able to re-attach the two cloth side flaps or "batwings". I see how the fabric can be re-positioned under the metal strips holding the GG. But how the heck do you re-attach the fabric to the back of the metal door. The metal was originally folded over to hold the fabric under the back of the door. Trying to lift up those two metal folds on the back of the door has not been successful so far. Any ideas?

Thanks, Scott

Scott,
You have to pry the folded over metal up (I use a putty knife), clean the old glue as clean as you can...then apply glue and slip the new pieces under...re-bend them over the new side flaps! The big problem is to get both side curtains to end up the same length....best way is to hold the pop-up open at 90 deg with tape or a strap, then attach the retainer bars!
Dont eat to much turkey today!
Have a nice Thanksgiving everyone............Bert
