|
|
I've read that it's do-able to reverse the front standard on a Crown in order to get a more useful depth-of-field camera movement without dropping the bed.
I've not taken it apart far-enough to know yet, but will I run into any difficulties doing the reversal?
The rangefinder needs adjustment anyway, and I imagine reversal wouldn't make that any harder...right? wrong?
Any objections, concerns, suggestions?
I got this bits-and-pieces FrankenCrown a gigantic 210 (Computar Symmetrigon) that's sure to cover any extra movement I can create, though bellows sag will be a problem...
Any experience with front standard reversal? |

I have the standard reversed on my backpacking Crown 2x3.
Be careful removing the lock nuts that secure the rise movement on the sides of the standard. The ends of the threaded studs are sometimes peened or difigured to prevent the rise locking nut backing off and getting lost. Forcing the nut off can cause the threads to become gauled and jamming the nut. More so I notice this being a problem on the 2x3 cameras, but it seems this is how they were orriginally assembled. Some back right off on thier own and others need a slight masaging witha thread or jeweler's knife file. Not much, just so it will not gaul when coming off.
You'll also have to turn the bed lock around and then re-check that the stanard is alligned. |
