I'm curious to know if any rangefinders were available for Pre-Anniversary Speed Graphics prior to the mid-30's? From what I understand, the Kalart was supposed to have been invented in 1936 (?). I'm not sure when the Hugo Meyer rangefinder became available. I have read conflicting information that the 1928-39 Pre-Anniversary Speed Graphics came with a rangefinder and I have doubts that they actually did at least prior to the late 30's. Maybe (probably) the rangefinders were added beginning in the late 30's as a modification / upgrade? Any clarification and details will be much appreciated. |

When the Kalart came out, many of the early Speeds were fitted with the Kalart Accessory Rangefinder. It had an arm that went around the front side of the case and back into the camera. Hard to describe and even harder to find. Hugo Meyer rangefinders are not adjustable for different lenses. I doubt you would want one of those. I don't know why you couldn't set it up with the later Kalart.

I have a pre-Anniversary with the early Kalart. Search on 229303 and you will see the thread that developed discussing the camera and the RF.
Mine looks like a professionally done aftermarket installation.
