I'm new to this forum, so please excuse me if these have been covered in the past.
I've recently bought a Pacemaker Speed Graphic (side mounted Kalart) with 127mm F4.7 Ektar in Supermatic shutter. Is it possible to get hold of a lens hood for this lens? I'm guessing it is a push-on type?
Also, the shutter has two vertical posts for the flash sync - how can I convert this to a modern PC-type sync plug?

Regarding the hood, yes it is a slip on, and see this post about slip ons:
http://www.graflex.org/helpboard/viewtopic.php?topic=4048&forum=10&5
My 1-1/2 series VI slip ons for my 135 Optars work also on some 127's but a couple I have had are just a slight bit bigger so one has to carefully tweek the slip on tabs out.
I believe you can get a BI-Post to pc adapter pretty easily, but let someone who uses them answer this for you. You will also need to make sure you have a Supermatic "X" or Flash Supermatic and move the screw setting dial to "F" and then test it to make sure it work with an electronic flash. According to the manuals this should work. I test shutters with a Bi-Post to hot shoe adapter with a Sunpak Strobe and this seems to work with "F" settings on Kodak shutters.
I would think Paramount cord makes an adapter like you need. My new Bipost cable came from them to use my bulb flash. |

Synch cords from http://www.paramountcords.com . A lifetime investment in a high-quality product: worth every penny, IMO. Believe the site now has a special Graflex page just for us bi-post folks (this is not a political/social statement).
P.S. Just visited the site and can't find that page. But it's easy to design your own cord: click on "custom cords" and take it from there.

one can also make one with a couple cords out of the camera store junk box. It is a simple series circuit with two wires. And if you like nice stuff, make proper wire knots and solder, cover, and heat shrink. If you like sloppy hacker style, twist wires like carrot tops and insulate with scotch tape.
Note: All hacker wiring can be checked using the wet toungue test method.

Troublemaker,
Have you tested a strobe 500 w/acpower supply lately via your method? If not, please do so.

Thanks for the link, Jack. How did you find it??? I searched the paramount site in vain for it, but I knew I had seen that page on a previous visit. What did I miss? |

480V 3 phase is 277V per pahse to neutral. I shut down a sub station one day by holding a neutral in one hand and touching a leg of the 480v with my toung. The burn to my toung took three weeks to heal and no one knew it was me that shut down the sub station. I will not recomend any one to try this for any reason.
Instructions intended in jest can get one into serious trouble.
Charles
