Hi I have a copy of 'Graflite Instruction Manual'. On page 10 it states:
"For good, dependable results your batteries should test at least 7 amps. Check your batteries regularly." Will three 1.5 volt D batteries generate over 7 amperes? If so, how much more? I have fried (ZAPPED!)a couple multi-meters before. My existing meter is only rated for 10 amperes. Is that enough? Thanks, Harry

Yes they can supply way more than that, depends on the load placed on the batteries.

Without knowing of what kind of resistance load to put on the batteries and the actual voltage, that amp rating doesn't mean a thing.

A resistance load can be something simple as a light bulb.

Best thing to do is to use fresh batteries whenever using the flash. Also, make sure all the contacts are clean.

Just in case, you are aware that simply connecting the battery to the meter when it is set to measure current will *always* fry the meter? When using a multimeter to measure current, it must be in series with the load, not across the battery. (most electronic multimeters have a replacable fuse inside to prevent this from being more than an annoyance..)
