What is the difference between adaptor back and a reducing back, in this topic size?

In terms of the general public, or worse, ebay sellers, I say there's no difference.
But given enough adult beverage, a government grant and two weeks in Hawaii. I'm sure a group of us could CREATE a difference and write a 300 page report on it. |

Hi Charles, a reducing back is one kind of adapting back. I've seen pictures of adapting backs that adapted larger film sizes, such as 5x7 to smaller cameras. I've also seen long adapting backs for adapting cameras with limited bellows extension to long focal length lenses. However, 99% of the time an adapting back reduces from a larger format to a smaller one. Dan
