Excuse me. I am new to the graflex XL user.
Now I have one graflex XL (KS-98B), RH-8, RH-10, RH-50, and several cut film holders. Because I often use 120 medium-format camera, I am familiar with RH-8 and RH-10. However, I don't understand what 70mm film (RH-50) and cut film holder are. Could any friend introduce them? Thank you a lot.

BTW, I am happy that I got the graflex XL (KS-98B) on ebay. It is very beautiful.

"Cut film" is another name for sheet film. It used to be available in a great many sizes and shapes, but today it is difficult to find in formats other than 4x5.

70mm. film comes in long rolls. It is like 35mm. film, only twice as wide. At one time, it was popular for "school cameras" and similar equipment. The Graflex "RH-50" back uses cassettes that you load from bulk stock, in the dark, and that hold enough film for 50 exposures. In the 1950s, Graflex made a military rangefinder camera that used 70mm. film; it looked like a giant Zeiss "Contax."

The Graflex "XL" is a neat camera.

Thank you t.r.sanford!
It seems that RH-50 and cut film holder are not useful today.
BTW, is KS-98B more valuable than normal XLRF cameras? Thank you.

70 mm film is still somewhat available, see http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?O=NavBar&A=search&Q=&ci=356

But you'll need cassettes and a loader.

Cheers,

Dan

You also can still find 2¼x3¼ cut (sheet) film in a few emulsions, if you want it. You also could cut it down from 4x5 (one sheet of 4x5 would yield two 2¼x3¼ films), if you had any reason to do so.

The 70mm. back would be very handy for some applications, e.g. taking senior portraits for a yearbook or covering a lengthy awards presentation!

The "KS" designation sounds as though this camera had been produced for the military. I don't know what effect that would have on its value. My impression is that Graflex manufactured a great many "XL" models under government contract, so I don't imagine they are especially rare.
