Okay,

Now I went and goofed up somehow on my 'New' Crown, I was taking the top cover off the rangelight rangefinder and had two small pieces fall out.

One is a piece of metal about 1/2" to 5/8" long with a small bend in it and about 1/8" wide, and the second is a very small spring, for the life of me I don't seem to be able to quite identify where they went, the small piece of metal looks like it may have been glued to something in the past, I did of course look through the website to track down any info I could, but there does not seem to be much on this particular rangefinder.

Any help, I would be grateful for, I did get the light to work, in fact the shipping block was still installed.

Thanks

Dave

Dave,
Its the parallax lever and spring. Go to Rich's site:
http://www.southbristolviews.com/
click on graflex manuals on the lower left then download the Top RF service manual.

Okay,

I got the manual and figured out the spring by looking at the diagram, my parallax lever is still in place and moves like it is supose to, I think the small piece of bend metal is a light shield of some sort to go between the light bulb area and the actual view finder, when I have it all together without this small piece of metal and turn the rangelight on, there seems to be a great amount of light spilling into the viewfinder area.

Does this in any way make sense?

Dave

Dave,
Yes it does. Its been a while since I've had a Top RF. If you cannot find the slot that it fits into then using the image on factory page 26 point me to what seems to be different. Could it be item 13, mirror-retainer?

Thanks for the help,

I am looking at page 28 accourding to my version of acrobat, this is the page with the rangefinder housing upside down, and it actually looks like the objective lens spring, but it may be the mirror retainer spring as you have suggested.

It is either #13 or #18, the shape is like they show as #18

45, thanks for the help, it is the objective lens retaining spring, I finally figured it out.
