questioned aimed at Dan Fromm ,what do you reckon the coverage is of 4" tth and 4" supersix wide open and say F4-I have both these but dont have mounting rings so have only tried rather rudimentry methods at defining coverage 6x7?

They are both normal lenses for 2.25 x 3.25. As I've told you, my TTH 4/2.0 covers 2x3 wide open although it isn't as sharp wide open as I want it to be. 2.25" x 3.25" is the actual size of nominal 6x9.

sorry didnt see your reply earlier,
I assume my lens came from an Vinten aerial camera as it has extra locking screws,
its actually marked as a 4" f2 anastigmat with 2.25 x 2.25 marked on the front bezel-
the lens was from a lot of lenses owned by an old man who lived in a room full of every
conceiveable lens; mostly dismantled or damaged in some way, he had been collecting
these for 30 +years --he had quite a few aero ektars unders his bed  or at
least near ,I never met him , but have bought quite a few interesting finds from
those dealing with his estate-I went to look at a 54 enlarger there-but it was
incomplete .
youve encouraged me to try and mount the lens more properly on my speed
as previously a wobbly piece of cardboard and an offset 405 polariod didnt
prove reliable ,I might have to machine up a recessed board-same goes for the 4" supersix
which is in an odd focussing mount-
-one lens I have adapted is a 10" 2.8 coated projection lens (petzval)
gives an interesting look

I'd better fit mine into a bronica focusing mount then ,maybe I didnt need it that much after all.
I have a 5" F1.5 TTH ,better lock that in the safe.
Aero Ektars going up in value as well for the moment

Re the bidding war, now I know what one of my UK colleagues meant when he remarked "stone the crows" to a surprising, as in he hadn't dreamt of it, solution to a problem.
If your 5"/1.5 is a cine lens, don't waste money on a vault. Tell us about it, please.
Re selling your 4"/2, well, that was my thought about my former 6"/1.9 (late, coated) Super Six on seeing a 152/1.9 (later, also coated) fetch $US 1,475 on eBay. If people really want the thing that badly, let them have mine, which I didn't value so highly. Nipponia-Nippon paid quite a lot for it.

that 5" f1.5 TTH lens is descibed as a projection lens Xenon gauss design I think, seems sharp at infinity for at least 1/4 plate-its not in great condition though -also it might need a dose of uv ,its a bit difficult to use as it wont go through the front standard on the speed,I've quite a few other aerial lenses,(Im working on a camera for the 36" F6.3 wray)-
spoils the fun of owning all these old lenses when the become worth something.
