Has anyone purchased a camera bag that works well with a crown graphic? I really want one in the back pack style, but am open to any suggestions.

What size Crown? If 2x3, I recommend the Tamrac PhotoPack #757 (or whatever the current equivalent would be). It's a convertible pack that you can carry by its top handle, or sling over the shoulder with the included strap, or use as a full backpack. It's very comfortable as a backpack. I have my entire Century kit in the Tamrac (except the tripod). It would no doubt work for the 4x5 as well.

It is a 4x5 Crown Graphic. Thanks for the reply, I'll check it out.

I use a regular shoulder bag that holds bigger A4/letter files and things. My bag is from Kipling and it was a present I bought for my wife. But she doesn't use it anymore and I took it to carry my 4x5 Crown. It holds the camera, 545 holder and a pack of PN55. The front has two pockets to hold one or two 4x5 filmhoulder, cable release, filters and series 5 hood/holder. It can carried on your back as well, but it is very uncomfortable.

Try this link: http://www.tamrac.com/welcome.htm , click on "Photo Backpacks," and look at item no. 752. This seems to be the closest design to the no. 757 pack I bought about five years ago, and which apparently is no longer made. As I said, I've been very happy with the 757 pack for my Century kit. It might be worth calling around to see if any dealers still have the 757 in stock, because I think it was available as recently as last year, when I saw a new one at my local camera store.

Although the picture shows the 752 bag filled with 35mm gear, if it's like my 757 it has a flexible arrangement with movable, velcroed panels that allow a number of different interior configurations. This is the only larger-size backpack-type bag in the Tamrac line that opens from the top, as opposed to the front, a feature that I much prefer in the field because you can set down the pack on its bottom, zip open the main compartment, and get to your gear easily. There are enough zippered pockets and compartments to hold dark cloth, meters, flash, filters, and all the other little gadgets one never seems to need but always carry anyway. On the 757 there are straps to hold the tripod, too, but I usually just carry it in hand unless I'm trekking some distance.

Later---I emailed Tamrac today and received the following very prompt response:

Thank you for your e-mail. Model 752 did not replace the 757. Model 752's
upper compartment is not padded and is meant for personal/non-fragile items.
We still have a few of the 757 (in Gray or Forest Green) in stock. If you
or someone you know would like to order one, please contact our Customer
Service Department toll free at (800) 662-0717 with your request Monday
through Friday between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 5:15 p.m. Pacific Standard
Time.

Sincerely,
Rhonda
