If you go to:
http://www.watercressline.co.uk

12 photographs are on view taken last weekend June 19th-20th.with a Pacemaker 1949 SPEED GRAPHIC (Quarter Plate camera)using a 120 film back.Ilford Delta 400iso film.Optar lens.

The event took place on the steam preservation line in Hampshire,England,to resemble the preparation of the invasion of Europe in 1944.

On the MAIN PAGE you have one Graphic picture, underneath, tap on "War on the Line",scroll down to the HORACE WARD letter, where you have 12 individual pictures to open up.

The Black & White pictures have the edge, looking like a Hollywood movie from the 40's...shades of "The Best Years of our Lives" or "Mrs.Miniver".

Good old Graphic's....

Good job! As always, I enjoy your photos. Thanks once again for sharing them. What kind of response, if any, did you receive when you were shooting with your Graphic?

None,Glenn..most people were too busy with what they were doing,or they might have thought it was a 'stage'prop for the occasion.

The pictures were not posed in any way-just quick snatches in time.I used the 135mm Optar to make sure the 'uprights'were straight.I was taking the 101mm Optar,Crown, but thought differently.

That would have lead to slight distortion to buildings and a wider angle to people,I couldn't risk that. You choose the camera for the occasion I found in the past.Experience with Graphics (Lenses & backs)makes you put your thinking cap on before setting off to events like these.

OK,less weight I know to take the 2x3,but the results can work out differently to the larger format of the Graphics.I've proven several times a 101mm is'nt the same as a 127mm or a 135mm lens.

Sorry, becoming too 'technical'let's get back to picture taking...you were saying,Ah,no they were not bothered.Of course, when they see the pictures on the site, they will realise it was the REAL thing!.

I would have though you would get at least a few comments while shooting an historic re-enactment with a camera that was correct for the period. Oh well ---
