Poor Weegee must be spinning in his grave to see a Speed Graphic looking like that, I know it gave me angina just looking at it and I can't afford too many more heart flutters!
I wonder what magazine this camera appeared in as a prop, did anyone remember seeing it?
Just got through watching "Public Eye" with Joe Pesci on the VCR, and what a movie, it kinda gives you an appreciation of the news photographers shooting back then, lugging the big cameras around with flashbulbs and film holders in their pockets.
When I shot for the local paper in the early 70's we were using TLR's and 35mm cameras, so it was a lot easier by then.

I'm not sure which was worse, this one, or the 8x10 Century Universal camera that was in very nice condition before he painted it flat white, including the Cooke lens. The portrait photographer used it as a prop too.
At least there were lots of Pacemaker's made.

I think the seller is getting a bit testy with her emails, but here is her reply,
The graflex was used as a prop in 1986 for the cover of "Flash" magazine in
Chicago. Yes, they published the cover. |

Do you think that after the auction is over, someone will post to this forum asking how to "clean paint from an old camera?" |

I WANT ONE!
Seriously, if you wanted to spend a hundred bucks or so, you'd have something really interesting to put up on a shelf. |

We know that weegee used all three major speed graphic cameras, Joe rosenthal's anniversary is at the Eastman House.
This one must be Emmet Kelly's. |
