Sorry to hear the bad news about Nikon.
I've never used their cameras, although bear in
mind most mechanical Nikons won't have servicing difficulties and will last you in good stead for years to come. Perhaps the news
is a little surprising from the camera company with its very own Contax II clone, outpricing the Contax over 10x.
If you're interested, here's one option:

Look up "Zero image" for a fantastic anti-digital revolution: a 5x4" or 10"x8" pinhole camera. No film required. Just shoot using paper.
And if paper runs out, then if Anchell's Darkroom Cook book doesn't give the formula for liquid light emulsion, I think it is a proprietary formula so it would be possible to coat your own papers and shoot at whim.
