Hello,
I have two things called Portra lenses. One is a Portra +2 and the other is a Portra +3. Can anyone tell me what these things are used for and how to use them? They look like filters.
Thanks,
Bill

The "Portra" lenses are add-on lenses that convert your standard lens into a PORTRAit lens, hence the name.

The numbers represent diopter adjustments (+1, +2, +3).

Just beware: on my 135mm, f/4.7 lens I got a bit of vignetting with a +3 lens.

Conversely, Telek add-ons convert your standard lens into a modest telephoto lens.

Also be aware that any such add-on lens will come at the cost of some sharpness. Although, I used a Telek +3 recently to photograph a waterfall in the woods with good results. The 16x20 print looked great!

I have some "Porta" adapters for the Rodenstock Ysarex 127mm lens on my converted Polaroid 110a. They are part of a closeup kit that comes with a small metal tape measure. Are these different items, or can I also use these for portrait work?

thanks,
Heller
