Is adjusting the rangefinder a complicated process? My rangefinder and ground glass don't match when focused. I assume the ground glass is accurate. It looks as if the round locking screw needs to be loosened and then the mirror on top moved. Of course I am guessing and I figure this forum will have the answer.

Yes, adjusting the top rangefinder is a very complicated task. First, though, confirm that you have the correct cam for the lens being used. That may be what's wrong. |

According to the manual; with rails in fully retracted position move them foward approximately 1/8 inch and lock focus movement. With any cam installed rangefinder should be focused at infinity. If so, cam is problem, if infinity focus is off a special calibration cam is needed to correctly adjust.

If you offset the lens standard from the infinity stops to match the focus of the rangefinder and the groundglass, is the focus consistently correct throughout the range of the rangefinder?
Some possibilities are: (a) the infinity stops got moved somehow, or (b) someone played with the rangefinder "tube" and it no longer has the right number of balls/spacers, (c) the rangefinder tube could have moved and needs to be realigned; or (d) the mirror mechanism has been moved out of alignment. Regarding (c)and (d), do the images coincide correctly? If not, that would tend to show (c) above - if so, then possibly (d). Finally, be aware there were a number of cams produced for each focal length, measured to the exact FL of the lens. So, for instance, you could have a 135mm cam, but not the RIGHT 135mm cam. That is way out and the least of the possibilities IMO.
I'd delay adjusting the mirror itself until all the other adjustments have been confirmed.

1). Creat an empty folder or file on your hard drive and name it Graflex or camera repair info or whatever you like.
2) Go to this site and scroll down to the section 7 files and copy pages 4, 5, and 6 to the file/folder you created in step 1.

3). Read, study, digest information, and ask questions as needed.
