|
|
Hi Everyone, I am new to the forum.
I recently acquired a Series B 3 1/4 x 4 1/4 with fixed back
The View Hood/Chimney is cracking/breaking at the folding points.
I could use some help on how to remove it from the camera and repair it.
At same time I plan to remove and clean the ground glass.
If anyone has an exploded diagram or service manual that would be great!
The shutter is working and i took a test photo that turned out fine.
Though I would like to know the lubrication points for the shutter mechanism and mirror pivots?
Thanks _________________

In regards the viewing hood, if it is in any way similar to series D, which I suspect it is, the front bottom part can be unlatched from its catch I think from just pulling towards the back of the camera. This bottom section can then fold back a bit revealing the ground glass. You then have to unscrew two screws holding the bracket which prevents the horizontalback metal stay of the hood from lolling about, their is a bracket on either side, you only need to do this on one side, this should release the whole viewing hood from the camera body. Its been a long time since I did this so I may've missed a step, but one you start its pretty straghtforward.
As to the shutter clean/ lube, search for old posts from Bert Saunders, there should be some info there, also Charles who shared some of Berts posts.
The shutter has specific points that need to be lubed, fairly straight forward so don't get carried away, If you do Facebook there is a Graflex SLR group |

Thank you! I was able to remove the view hood.
Also searched and found a graflex shutter service .pdf
Over the next few weeks will get going on the repairs.
Cheers
