Hi- Is there any available info on re-covering a camera with Moroccan leather, which I believe is the original material? The sides look pretty straightforward, but the fold down front has a hump in it, which would be really difficult to, I think. Suggestions?

XXX Moroccan leather was used through 1946 then they switched to Naugahyde on the Pacemaker series in 1947. HOWEVER I have serviced 1948 4x5 Pacemaker Speed Graphics that had leather from the factory so one is left to conclude they continued to use leather until their on hand supply was used up.

In custom car building shows on Motortrend network they spray a contact cement that is heat activated on the back of the leather and the surface being covered , place the leather in place, press it down working out the wrinkles then using steam to activate the adhesive and smooth out the leather.

Mild heat and stretching as needed should work.
