I just acquired a 1957-58 Crown Graflex and was wondering what it cost new in those years. Also, what it might sell for today if they were still produced and still as popular as then. |

If I recall correctly, Michael's Camera Shop in Patchogue, NY advertised a new 4 x 5 Crown Graphic at $159.95 in December 1955.
I realize this is not a direct answer but it might be the best that is available at this time.
enjoy;

According to the Bank of Canada inflation calculator (I'm located north of the border), $159.95 in 1955 would equal $1,368.88 in 2011. The B of C calculator is based on the cost of a "basket" of varied goods and services, so I think it's a pretty good indicator of the dwindling dollar. |
