There's several web sites showing folks' resolution tests (LP/MM numbers)of all sorts of large format lenses. But this one's not on any I can find.

If anyone's got decent info on this lens' resolution numbers, please let me know where. My lens seem pretty sharp, but I don't have a good way to evaluate its resolution.

Buy a USAF-1951 target and test yourself. Edmund Optics sells them.

Why bother? If it shoots well enough for you, that's all that matters.

It's a very good lens. I just wanted to find out how it stacks up against other 135mm large format lenses.

And when you know, what will you do? Be happy? Brag? Be unhappy? Replace it?

You already know that it is a tessar type, has to be stopped down to get good detail in the corners. If you can't live with that and want a 135 your best bet is to get a modern plasmat-type 135. Not a convertible Symmar, something more modern than that.

Good luck, have fun,

Dan

Are these four reasons the only choices I have?

Oh, no, there are many more. But they collapse to two. Continue to use, replace.

That's part of "replace," Henry.

Why don't you offer him a superior replacement in trade?

It's negotiable, but I prefer an outright gift! Replacement is up to the giver
