Hey Everybody-

Just got me a Super D camera.....
It is all pretty and wood and is set up for 4x5 and has a Cooke 6.5in lens. Everything seems to work just dandy, that is, except for the focus.

It has no problem focusing close up (up to 10in or so) but doesnt seem to want to focus past maybe 10 feet or so. Im thinking maybe this lens is not meant to be on this camera, but have not yet dug into it to see whats going on.

Any thoughts from the experts out there?

Muchas G,

Jeff

http://cameraeccentric.com/html/info/graflex_16.html Super D Brochure gives the following specs:
12 inch bellows
Minimum focal length 7 inch
Standard lens 7 1/2 inch f5.6 Kodak Ektar.

25.4mm per inch; 7 inch=178mm; 6.5 inch=165mm.

The Super D (and especially the RB Auto) are great portrait cameras, and you'll often find lenses that are a little shorter than the minimum, but work just fine in the 6-10foot range for portrait work.

Yes it does sound like your lens is too short for the camera for landscape work but might be sweet for 3/4 length portraits.

Hi Pinky - I am curious as to the maximum f/stop if the lens. Is it marked?

Thanks,

Semi

Thanks - that is a good lens, although fragile. If you decide to replace it with another please let me know. I would be interested in buying it.

Thanks,
Jon
