Hi.

I got my self a Graflex 3 cell flashgun and I am wondering if it is the vintage version because the locking clamp is on the left side if you put it upend. I saw pictures on the internet on which the locking clamp is on the right side. Is there anybody who can help me?

By the way: please excuse my mistakes but I am German and I am using my school-english

Without seeing it, it's hard to tell if it's original or a reproduction. I can tell you, however, that the bracket clamp can be mounted either way. Some photographers had two flash guns on their Pacemaker Speed and Crown Graphics. On those models, the flash will mount on the strap brackets by simply removing the strap and reversing the clamp so the reflector faces forward. If your flash faces backward when mounted just loosen the clamp and spin it around. Cheers!

The Graflex flash from 1941-1949/50 has

    a round red button
a clamp in the center of the flash unit
has two round "ports" near the top for electrical connection along with a household port in the front center.

The 1950-1970? Graflite flash has

a square red button and a rotary switch below it labeled 1,2,N
a pair of clamps the are removable and adjustable along the battery case
5 household ports around the top and are labeled
    a black plastic threaded bottom
