I finally became annoyed enough by my handle-less RB Series B 4x5 that I put a handle on it. The work left a few shavings sprinkled here and there so I popped off the chimney and did a thorough vacuuming. To my everlasting surprise I discovered that the groundglass rests in the camera with the textured side facing up. I cannot believe this is correct. Can anyone with a 4x5 B confirm the orientation of their groundglass please?

Many thanks in advance!

Semi

I don't have a 4x5 Series B, but I do have a 3x4. The groundglass in my camera is installed smooth side up, as usual in reflexes.

The ground side of the groundglass should face the lens in any camera.

Thanks guys for the input. First photo is with the groundglass in its original texture-up position. Second is after flipping over. If the files are too small to show it, the second one is sharp while the first is very soft. They are Polaroid test shots, but obviously not the regular kind!

Regards,
Semi
