Hello all, I have a couple of questions and tried using the search function before starting a new thread.

I got a camera from e-bay and it arrived today. It is a Speed Graphic with a 152mm Kodak f4.5 lens. It has a side mounted Kalart Range Finder. The serial number is 889408. I hope this helps to identify what model/style it is.

First question, how do i know how far out to pull the bellows? Is there an exact spot or do I just pick a place?

Second question what is the flip switch used for on the far bottom of the side with the range finder. (it is not on the range finder but at the bottom of a panel that has a plug on it with two prongs sticking out)

I thank you all for any help and if these questions are too tedious to bother with just let me know exactly what model and style camera I have and I will get a copy of the manual and read up on it.

You all have a great site and I hope to hear from you soon.....

I can also e-mail a photo if that would help.

Scott, it sounds like you have a Pacemaker model, 1955 or earlier, judging by the side mounted rangefinder. Post a question in the serial number section for more specific date. The things on the side, sound to me like you're refering to the back/front shutter selector and back shutter controls. The plug is for a bulb type flash.
Look through the information layed out on the main page to get more insight into your camera, or visit http://www.southbristolviews.com and scroll down to the Graflex manuals tab on the left. Cheers....

The small lever at the bottom engages the govener which allows for twice the number of speeds for each slit in the curtain. Watch the speed in the window while flipping the switch.

Thanks guys! You are exactly right about the switch at the bottom. I did not notice it moving the speed selector on the rear shutter when i was playing with it....

as for the manual, i also appreciate the link! There is a wealth of info on here, but sometimes it is hard to sift through. i did a search but it seemed to pull up the phone book.

thanks again for the speedy replies and i look forward to helping you both someday...
