I run a lab where we have several speed and crown graphics for students to use. Needless to say the cameras and lenses take a beating like rental cars. Can anyone suggest a good place to send four graflex lenses for cleaning and calibration?

I use: Mr. Fred Lustig, 4790 Caughlin Pkwy #433, Reno, NV 89509. He doesn't publish his e-mail address. His phone # is:
(775) 746-0111.

He's not there right now, but you might call and leave a message, or just send them to him for an estimate. He'll be back in February.

He has the largest stock of parts on ALL graflex shutters. Does great work. Prices are very reasonable. I highly recommend!

If you're in a hurry, try S.K. Grimes. http://www.skgrimes.com/ He's one of the very best shutter repairmen, but he doesn't have the parts supply that Fred does.

Second alecj's recommendation. Don't know about lens cleaning, but have dealt with Mr Grimes for shutter repair / calibration (based on recommedation by others in this forum).

Cannot say enough good things about his service, pricing, and responsiveness.

Hello,

I used Steve Grimes for recementing my separating 190mm Ektar lens (for Super D Graflex). The lens came back as good as new! He was very professional, polite and quick turn-around time. I think the price was quite fair as well. I can't say enough good things about Steve Grimes and I've heard this from everyone else who has delt with him.

One more repair source on lenses:

Focal Point Inc.
1017 South Boulder Rd. Suite E-2
Louisville, CO 80027

303-665-6640
303-665-3803 FAX

john@focalpointlens.com e-mail

http://www.focalpointlens.com website

Although I have never used John's services, I have heard outstanding feedback on his ability to recoat, recement, clean haze and fungus. His specialty is Hasselblad, Rollei and Leica but John will do all lenses and he has a high regard for large format. I think his prices are similar to Steve Grimes. Good luck

JP Mose
