There are three different modes on the shutter assembly, but I'm not sure what differentiates them. All of the modes seem to act the same when I flip the shutter. Any ideas?

Flash synchronization delay. M white is for M class sync with shutter speeds filled in white. M red is for the same with red speeds. F is for class F sync. X is for instantaneous sync, used with electronic flash. Off is for "don't fire the flash." M & F are for use with flash bulbs only.

Now do you feel better?

Cheers,

Dan

FWIW, It relieves a lot of stress on the internal workings of this shutter if you set the switch to "OFF" unless you plan to use flash.
