Hi! I've aquired and started to use a
Graflex Press 5x7 camera, serial #84407.
I've also picked up half dozen of the
correc Graflex Film Holders and I've
made and processed ONE sheet of film,
using the mirror up/down as the shutter,
because the tensioning doesn't work.
I'd like to get it fixed. Also, the
focusing rail and knobs are missing.
Otherwise ok. Can someone recommend
a reliable repair shop or person? Thanks!
Can I fix this myself? The curtains look
ok. It's great to see a hugh 5x7 image
either through the back or reflex!!
Best,
Rich
PS Date of manufacture with that #?

Hi there - Can you be a little more specific about the problem with the tensioning?

"Photography of Bald Mountain" in Southern California can repair your Press Graflex. I don't have their phone number but you can do a search on the web.

The shutter works in this model is a lot more complicated than your typical Graflex (Bert do you agree?). I have one that is sluggish but this is one I will not attempt on my own.

I agree JP....lots more parts to remove! And this one has a large flat coil spring for the tensioner, very stiff and coiled like the return spring in a clock or a tape measure! Oddly, mine has no focus gears/shaft or knobs either, but plan to fab new ones!......Bert
