I'd like to find a "c" lensboard for my pre-Anny Speed Graphic. I know Columbus Camera makes lensboards for the Pacemakers, but does anyone know of any dealers who stck the wooden "c" boards? Thanks!

Hey,
I don't have an answer, but I'd like to know if these boards are available, too, because I have a Pre-Ann Speed Graphic.

Update:
I found an old post on here from 2002 in which Steve Wolverton (a.k.a. "Wolvertone" on this board) said he had a woodcutting jig for this very thing and would make Graflex lens boards upon request. I just sent him an email to see if he would be interested in doing this.
I will post again when I hear from Mr. Wolverton.

Springback,
Hi. I found out that Steve Wolverton, whom I heard once made lens boards, is still doing so!
His going rate is $15 per board, plus $5 shipping in the lower 48 states. Three types of wood are available for the boards: cherry, mahogany, or padouk (a reddish wood). All are teak oiled on the front surface and painted flat black on the back, he notes.
Steve also stated that Graphics are made out of mahogany, so I plan probably order one from this wood as a backup board for use on my Pre-Anny 4x5 Speed.
Steve's email: steve@wolvertonphotography.com
I'm not affiliated with him, just wanted to let you know a source is still available!

I'm not sure if this is 'allowed' or not, but I have a local woodworker making up some of the C lensboards, and I will probably have extras once he makes them. I won't know how many exactly until after the holidays (he's swamped with furniture orders for the holidays), anyone interested send me a private message and I will get back to you when I know more.

Another source, which I have not used but found on this website, is http://www.stephenshuart.com/ He lists them for $15 each. You can also use Wisner boards, although they are much more expensive at $35 or $40 each unless you can find a used one. |

If you know anyone with a table saw, make them yourself! I used 1/4" plywood and cut a few 4" square boards. To cut the recess set the blade low to give the correct outside thickness to the board, (1/8" or .125") and set the rip fence to the amount of the recess. ( a little over 1/4" or .260") Draw a line from corner to corner and "X" marks the spot to drill for the hole. A file can cut the bevel. You can turn out a bunch of boards in just a hour. If you have a woodworking friend, bring along a board and ask him to copy it. It's a real easy job. If you want REALLY easy, use the lensboards from a Beseler 23C. I do this on my Pre-Anny and they fit just fine! Come to think of it, any 1/8" thick fairly strong board should work fine. I never get any light leaks when I use the lensboards from my 23C. |

She sells C boards by the sea shore. Actually, try KEH. They had a few C boards listed under "large format collectables", the last time I looked. |
