Espresso Parts
A teeny-tiny pin in my espresso maker portafilter fell out, and fortunately I found it. I realize that the old-style Saeco Gran Crema portafilter is out of fashion, but I like the control it gives; it's midway between the commercial portafilter where you have to grind and tamp just right, and the new style spring-valve pressurized portafilters, where you have no control. Turning the portafilter while it is mounted opens and closes the valve. Becky found this page with its diagram showing the exploded view of the portafilter, and I realized it was just a loose screw on the counterweight. I'd taken it apart before to clean it and recognized the part, but somehow before seeing the picture I hadn't realized that that was what was wrong. Score one for the web, Becky says.
